What instruments does Musoca support?
Currently, Musoca is optimized for standard 6-string guitar in standard tuning (EADGBE). Our chord diagrams, scale patterns, and arpeggio visualizations are all designed for guitarists. The tuner supports chromatic tuning for various pitches, and the Capo Tool helps transpose songs for easier playing. Support for bass guitar, ukulele, and other string instruments is planned for future updates.
Is Musoca suitable for beginners?
Absolutely! We offer a dedicated Beginner's Guide that covers everything from how to hold a guitar, proper tuning technique, basic chord shapes, to playing your first songs. The Chord Finder includes simplified voicings perfect for beginners, and the Scales Library starts with essential patterns like the pentatonic scale. Our progressive learning approach helps you build skills step by step.
How accurate is the guitar tuner?
Our tuner uses advanced pitch detection algorithms and is accurate within ±1 cent (1/100th of a semitone). It features a responsive visual needle display and works in chromatic mode to detect any note. For best results, use it in a quiet environment and allow microphone permissions when prompted. The tuner supports standard EADGBE tuning as well as common alternate tunings.
What makes the Chord Finder special?
Our Chord Finder contains over 600 verified chord voicings across multiple positions on the fretboard. Each chord includes professionally verified finger positioning, indicating which strings to play open, which to fret, and which to mute. Multiple voicings are provided for each chord type (open chords, barre chords, jazz voicings) to suit different playing styles and musical contexts. Audio playback lets you hear how each chord should sound.
Can I use Musoca on my mobile device?
Yes! Musoca is fully responsive and optimized for smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers. All tools work directly in your browser without requiring app installation. The interface adapts to your screen size for comfortable use on any device. For the best experience with audio-based tools like the tuner and ear trainer, we recommend using Chrome or Safari browsers on mobile.
What scales are available in the Scales Library?
The Scales Library features 100+ scales including all major and minor scales, pentatonic scales (major and minor), blues scales, modes (Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian), harmonic minor, melodic minor, and various exotic scales. Each scale includes complete fretboard visualization, interval patterns, and the notes that make up the scale. Perfect for improvisation, songwriting, and music theory study.
How does the Metronome work?
Our Metronome offers customizable BPM (40-280 beats per minute), multiple time signatures (4/4, 3/4, 6/8, and more), and adjustable beat subdivisions. The tap tempo feature lets you set the BPM by tapping along with a song. Visual and audio cues help you keep perfect time during practice sessions. Use it standalone or alongside other practice tools.
What does the Capo Tool do?
The Capo Tool helps you transpose chords to different positions when using a capo, making it easier to play songs with difficult chord shapes. Simply input the original chords and select your capo position, and the tool calculates the new chord shapes you'll play. It also helps find easier voicings for beginners by suggesting capo positions that simplify complex chord progressions.
What is the Circle of Fifths tool?
The Circle of Fifths is an interactive music theory visualization tool that displays the relationship between keys, key signatures, and chord progressions. It's an essential tool for understanding harmony, modulation between keys, and building chord progressions. The visual representation helps guitarists memorize key signatures and understand which chords naturally work together in a given key.
How does the Ear Trainer help me?
The Ear Trainer provides interactive exercises to develop your musical ear, helping you identify intervals, chords, and chord progressions by sound. This is one of the most valuable skills for any musician, enabling you to transcribe songs, improvise solos, and communicate musically with other players. Regular practice with the ear trainer dramatically improves your ability to play by ear.
Can I save my favorite chords and scales?
Yes, with a free account you can save unlimited favorite chords and scales for quick access. Your favorites are synced to your account and available across all your devices. This feature is perfect for building personal practice routines, saving songs you're learning, or creating custom reference collections for different musical styles.
